‘Haere Mai & Welcome’ lays the foundation for new and existing community members to connect and interact, helping to reduce social isolation by building a positive and integrated community.

By connecting new residents and current residents through a range of creative initiatives, ‘Haere Mai & Welcome’ helps everyone flourish in the neighbourhood. These initiatives intend to connect people across generations and across cultures, whilst creating a better sense of belonging and wellbeing for the wider community.

Our neighbourhoods, in collaboration with the local community, groups, businesses and residents, would like to do our bit and extend a warm welcome to the newcomers

IN A FEW CREATIVE WAYS…

Each new resident will receive a sustainable tote bag filled with goodies donated by local businesses.

From discounts to freebies, there will be a range of items designed to help the new members of our community get to know the local neighbourhood.

To help new residents get their bearings, we’ve designed a map of the local neighbourhood featuring a directory of businesses, community groups and social services.

This will be a useful guide to anyone who’s new to the area, or help someone who’s familiar with the local neighbourhood to discover more about our great community.

New year, new neighbours! We’ll organise a welcome event for new (and current) residents to get together & meet each other.

It’s a casual get-together where you can meet new and current locals, tuck into a few snacks and enjoy some LIVE music!

But what we’d really love right now, is for you to get involved!

In 2023/24, we’re co-creating with the Oranga community!

So, if you’re a local business or community group who’d like to donate something to the goodie bag, or a friendly local resident who wants to help out or come along to the welcome party, then please get in touch using the form >>>
